Introduction
We are delighted to present the second exhibition, “Tracing Thought 2026,” jointly organized by the Joshibi University of Art and Design Drawing Center and Touch Base Creative Network at Everton Park Library in Brisbane, Australia.
This exhibition features drawings created through the daily explorations of students and faculty members from a wide range of artistic disciplines. Drawing is an act of making visible the traces of thought and perception. It can serve as a preliminary sketch for a finished work, while at the same time existing as an independent form of artistic expression in its own right.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Japan and Australia. We hope this exhibition will contribute, in its own modest way, to strengthening cultural exchange and mutual understanding between our two countries, and inspire new dialogue and creative connections through art.
The freedom and flexibility inherent in the act of drawing allow diverse perspectives to intersect, giving rise to new ways of thinking. We hope visitors will discover the richness of drawing as a medium and the creative possibilities that extend beyond it.
The Joshibi University of Art and Design Drawing Center is dedicated to researching and promoting the practice of drawing through specialized education, artistic research, and public engagement, with the aim of fostering new perspectives and values in society.
Touch Base Creative Network serves as a platform for creative research and project development, connecting people, ideas, and information across disciplines and communities.

このたび、オーストラリア・ブリスベン市のエバートン・パーク図書館にて、女子美術大学ドローイングセンターとタッチ・ベース・クリエイティブ・ネットワークの共催により、第2回展覧会「Tracing Thought 2026 ― 思考をなぞる」を開催できますことを、大変嬉しく思います。
本展では、専攻の異なる学生と教員による、日々の探究の中で生まれたドローイング作品をご紹介します。ドローイングは、思考や感覚の軌跡を即興的に可視化する行為であり、エスキース（素描）として最終作品の準備段階となることもあれば、それ自体が独立した表現として成立することもあります。
本年は、日本とオーストラリアが日豪友好協力基本条約締結50周年という節目を迎えます。本展が、この記念すべき年に両国の文化交流と相互理解を深める一助となり、芸術を通じた新たな対話やつながりを育む機会となれば幸いです。
描くという行為に内在する自由さと柔軟さを通じて、多様な視点が交差し、新たな思考の展開が生まれます。本展を通して、ドローイングが持つ豊かな魅力と、その先に広がる思考の可能性を感じ取っていただければ幸いです。
女子美術大学ドローイングセンターは、「描く行為」を通じた専門的な技術と知識を研究・実践し、社会に還元することで、新たな視点や価値観の創出を目指す施設です。
タッチ・ベース・クリエイティブ・ネットワークは、クリエイティブな研究とプロジェクト開発のプラットフォームとして、人、アイデア、情報を結びつける役割を果たしています。
